Vormgeving is een belangrijk aspect en bepaald hoe jouw idee of concept er uit komt te zien. Een magazine ziet er niet uit als het niet opgemaakt is en ook een social media post heeft vormgeving nodig. Vormgeving is overal en altijd nodig. Zo hebben we afgelopen voorjaar een boek vormgegeven namelijk het boek: Bunkers rond hotel Britannia. We hebben dit hele boek vormgegeven van de kaft tot het binnenwerk en de achterkant. Het is een leuk proces, doordat een heel boek gevormd wordt op deze manier. Vormgeving zegt alles ook in een boek. Hieronder kun je lezen waar het boek over gaat:
Historicus Hans Sakkers heeft in samenwerking met Stichting Bunkerbehoud een nieuw boek geschreven: Bunkers rond hotel Britannia. Hans is bekend als schrijver van boeken als Slag om de Schelde 1944 en Duitse militaire standrechtelijke executies in Zeeland. Ook speelt hij een rol in de documentaires Soldaat zonder wapen en Het Kruis in de duinen.
In Vlissingen resteert van alle bunkers gebouwd rond Hotel Britannia alleen nog de commandobunker. Weggestopt onder het plantsoen voor de Bestevaer-Flat. Het doel van dit boek is de bijzonder hoge historische waarde van deze bunker aan te tonen. In de vroege ochtend van de 3e november 1944 vonden rond Hotel Britannia de meest bloedige gevechten in Vlissingen plaats. Schotse troepen veroverden hierbij het hotel en de commandobunker, waarbij ze de Duitse commandant van de vesting Vlissingen krijgsgevangen maakten. Een wapenfeit dat Schotland nog altijd een verbondenheid geeft met Vlissingen.
Dit als onderdeel van de Slag om de Schelde, die zich afspeelde in het najaar van 1944. Het ging om een grootschalige geallieerde operatie met als doel de vrije doorvaart naar Antwerpen als oplossing voor de geallieerde logistieke moeilijkheden. Een oorlogsbeslissende slag waar de strijdende partijen van waren doordrongen. Vanuit deze bunker leverde de Duitse marine tot het laatst toe een essentiële bijdrage in de strijd. Hier is letterlijk en figuurlijk geschiedenis geschreven. Vanaf 21 mei is het boek verkrijgbaar in de boekwinkels in de buurt. Kijk voor meer informatie op www.bunkerbehoud.com.
