De Franse Slag in Zeeland
Wist je dat het vandaag 81 jaar geleden is dat de Franse Slag in Zeeland plaats vond? De Franse overheid hield rekening met een Duitse inval aan het begin van de Tweede Wereldoorlog in Nederland en stuurde troepen om de Schelde te gaan verdedigen. De Franse troepen vechten in Zeeland en Brabant, maar de strijd was maar kort. Waar de Fransen op 14 mei ons land kwamen verdedigen eindigde de strijd op 18 mei en namen de Duitsers Zeeland over. Dit was de Franse slag in Zeeland.
Wij hebben samen met De Zeeuwse Documentaire Stichting een documentaire gemaakt over de Franse slag in Zeeland. De film begint in 1939 en speelt zich verder af in 1940. In de documentaire komen Zeeuwen aan het woord, ooggetuigen die een herinnering hebben aan de Franse militairen in Zeeland. Naast alle informatie uit de archieven wordt het verhaal ook vertelt door middel van realistische re-enactment. Hierdoor komt deze gebeurtenis uit het verleden tot leven.
